PAVS CEO celebrates 100 days in post

It’s been a busy few months since Jess Bickerton took on the role of Chief Officer at PAVS – we’ve managed to squeeze in a quick catch up to find out more about how it’s going!

Jess, tell us in 3 words what your first 100 days at PAVS have been like…

Is it really 100 days?  It’s been exhilarating, thought-provoking and life-affirming.

What do you feel the next 100 days will bring?

I’m looking forward to meeting many more people/organisations across Pembrokeshire – we have such a vibrant community sector here.

I want PAVS to serve our members in the voluntary sector well: securing funding is a major preoccupation given the pressures on public sector budgets.

So I hope our deep insight into the social, health and community needs and concerns across Pembrokeshire can be really well utilised both by decision makers and those working with people who need support.

and….No doubt Lee Hind will engineer more opportunities for me to appear on Pure West Radio – which I think I am starting to find less terrifying!

What has been your proudest moment so far in your role?

Definitely cutting the ribbon at the Community Zone at the County Show – career highlight!!

Tell us something we may not know about you…

I was a volunteer at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi – and my role was to accompany an ‘Honoured Guest’ – who was none other than Sebastian Coe!
