Clynfyw Community Share Offer
Clynfyw Farm, near Aberych, has been farmed by the same family since the 1750s, but no more!
Following the successes of other local community share offers, Clynfyw Community Benefit Society has been set up to run a share offer which would secure and safeguard the future of the farm while also developing more community involvement and helping to build local resilience in the process.
Clynfyw is an organic farm which has offered high-quality wheelchair accommodation since the mid-1980s, winning numerous awards for its pioneering community-focused farm diversification for over 30 years. Now home to ten people living in supported accommodation and a Care Farming day service for vulnerable and marginalised people, the aim is to secure its future as a true community asset.
Rather than selling to the highest bidder, Clynfyw Community Benefit Society (CBS) has been established to run a series of community share offers in the years ahead. The first purchases the main farm buildings and adjoining nine acres of land which, working with Ffynnone Community Resilience, will be used to run Farm Start Schemes. To do this we need to raise £550,000.
Over time, we hope the whole farm will become community owned, honouring its current uses, while focusing on progressive community resilience, and regenerative land usage so it can continue to be enjoyed as a secure community resource, benefiting more people, in perpetuity.
Chair of Clynfyw CBS, John Morgan said “Grab your chance now to own shares in this wonderful farm, have a say in what happens next, and help secure its future as a community hub, providing care farm opportunities and developing and supporting local resilience. It is a totally robust business model which creates a return to investors of up to 4%, and a surplus which will go towards developing additional local schemes. We hope loads of people will want to get involved with investments starting at £100. It is an investment, not a donation. It’s an exciting thing to be part of.”
People who invest can get a return on their investment of up to 4% each year. They also have a say in the direction of the CBS and how best community resilience can be supported.
We are holding Open Days on Friday 29th September and Saturday 11th October and a zoom meeting about it on Thursday 7th October.
The community share offer opened on 18th September 2023 and will run until 30th October 2023.
