Carers Support West Wales | Cymorth Gofalwyr Gorllewin Cymru

Ydych chi'n gofalu am rywun? Ydych chi'n Ofalwr?

“Gofalwr yw rhywun sy’n darparu cymorth a chefnogaeth di-dâl i berthynas, ffrind neu gymydog na all ymdopi ar ei ben ei hun oherwydd salwch, anabledd, eiddilwch, nam corfforol, salwch meddwl neu gamddefnyddio sylweddau.”

Ydy hyn yn swnio fel chi? Os felly, rydych yn Ofalwr di-dâl. Mae gennym ddiddordeb mewn adnabod Gofalwyr, yn enwedig y bobl hynny a all fod yn gofalu heb gymorth na chefnogaeth. Gwyddom fod Gofalwyr yn aml yn “gudd” yn gofalu am aelod o’r teulu neu’n helpu ffrind neu gymydog gyda thasgau o ddydd i ddydd ac efallai na fyddant yn gweld eu hunain yn Ofalwr.

Teimlwn fod gofalu am rywun yn rôl bwysig a gwerthfawr yn y gymuned. Yn aml mae'n swydd 24 awr a all fod yn feichus iawn ac yn ynysig i'r Gofalwr. Rydym hefyd yn credu y dylai Gofalwyr dderbyn cefnogaeth briodol trwy fynediad at wybodaeth gywir ar ystod o bynciau megis hawl i fudd-daliadau a gofal seibiant ac nid lleiaf, clust i wrando pan fydd pethau'n mynd yn ormod.

Pam fod Gofalwyr di-dâl yn hanfodol?

Unpaid Carers provide around 96% of the care in the community and save the NHS in Wales over £8.1 billion each year. PAVS Age Friendly and Dementia Supportive Communities recognises that Carers contribute a significant saving to the NHS by looking after relatives, neighbours or friends who might otherwise have to go into long term care.  Young Carers, under the age of 18 may be particularly vulnerable due to their inexperience and lack of life-skills. Young Adult Carers, between the ages of 18-25, can be the most hidden group of Carers in our society. Therefore, we at PAVS Age Friendly and Dementia Supportive Communities are committed to providing appropriate support and consideration to our service users who are Carers, whatever their age.

If you would like support or more information, please contact PAVS Age Friendly and Dementia Supportive Communities Development Officer, Julie Campbell: julie.campbell@pavs.org.uk

  • deall eich cyfrifoldebau gofalu.
  • eich cyfeirio at wybodaeth, cymorth a chefnogaeth, naill ai nawr neu yn y dyfodol.
  • rhannu gwybodaeth am y person rydych yn gofalu amdano (gydag ysgrifenedig priodol
  • caniatâd).
  • efallai y byddwch yn darparu apwyntiadau mwy hyblyg sy'n adlewyrchu eich rôl ofalu.
  • cynnig pigiad ffliw blynyddol i chi (am ddim).
  • eich cyfeirio at wasanaethau neu sefydliadau eraill a allai eich helpu.

Our Carer Lead is Julie Campbell, a dedicated member of staff to help with Carer-related enquires. You can speak to her by telephone 07595 192 937, or email to make an appointment for a chat. Julie has lots of information to share with you which may help. We look forward to hearing from you.

Beth yw Asesiad Anghenion Gofalwr?

As a Carer, you are entitled to have a Carers Needs Assessment by Social Services. It is a chance to talk about your needs as a Carer and the possible ways help could be given. It also looks at the needs of the person you care for. This could be done separately, or together, depending on the situation. There is no charge for an assessment. Every Carer is entitled to an assessment; however, it is not an assessment of your ability to provide care. When you register with your GP Practice as a Carer, the practice will offer you the chance to have a referral.

Working in partnership to support carers

The West Wales Carers Development Group (WWCDG) are a formal sub-group of the West Wales Regional Partnership Board (RPB). The group includes representatives of health board, the three local authorities, third and voluntary sector organisations, service users and carers in West Wales. The group is currently chaired by Anna Bird, Hywel Dda University Health Board, with vice chair Sophie Buckley, PAVS.

The WWCDG work together to utilise the carers funding provided by Welsh Government. The funding is used to ensure that carers priorities are embedded in services in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.

West Wales Strategic Plan for Unpaid Carers 2025 – 2030

This new regional strategic plan builds on the foundations laid out by our previous strategy.

Unpaid carers in West Wales continue to make a critical contribution, not only to the lives of relatives, friends and neighbours but to the local community too. Caring is such an important part of life and many of us will find ourselves in a caring role at some point in our lives whether the role emerges unexpectedly or unfolds gradually, as each carer’s journey is unique to their own circumstances.

This new regional strategic plan has been developed with input from unpaid carers and organisations who support them.  The plan aims to ensure that in West Wales unpaid carers are not only recognised and valued but will also be equipped to receive the right type and level of support at the right time.  The Regional Partnership Board is committed to our continued, collective effort to improve the health and wellbeing of unpaid carers across West Wales.

Cefnogi Gofalwyr Gorllewin Cymru

Since November 2022, unpaid carers of all ages in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire have had access to a bespoke regional website to help support them in their caring role. The website, delivered by PAVS on behalf of the West Wales Carers Development Group, supports the provision and accessibility of consistent information, assistance and advice for unpaid carers across the three counties, which unpaid carers told the West Wales Carers Development Group was important to them in a survey to develop the West Wales Carers Strategy in 2020. The website, Carers Support West Wales (CSWW), is a one stop shop for carer specific information and has been co-produced with unpaid carers in the region. It continues to help the West Wales Regional Partnership Board to deliver against the West Wales Strategic Plan for Unpaid Carers 2025-2030, which identifies three key aims under Priority 2 “Carers are Supported”.

Offer a range of services to respond to unpaid carers’ needs

Ensure the right information is available at the right time

Ensure that unpaid carers receive support

The Carers Support West Wales (CSWW) website remains the central online hub for information and support, receiving 151,831 visits between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, alongside 324,395 engagements across associated social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. This reflects increased regional awareness, effective promotion, and successful search engine optimisation, positioning it as a leading online resource for unpaid carers.

During 2025-26, the CSWW website remained a vital source of information for unpaid carers and professionals, offering comprehensive resources on unpaid carers’ rights, financial support, health and wellbeing, local services, and emergency planning. The website continues to be co-produced with unpaid carers and partner organisations to ensure information remains accurate, relevant and accessible.
