Finance and Reporting Officer

Job description

Role

Ffynnone Community Resilience works on local resilience activities in North-east Pembrokeshire. It assists four community gardens and helps run the Save the Teifi campaign. Ffynnone funds and manages a programme of courses and community events mainly around food growing and the river. Ffynnone has bought 6 acres of land in Abercych in order to run a Farmstart programme.

Ffynnone Community Resilience is mainly grant funded for specific projects. This role is for a Finance Officer who will  be responsible for the day to day financial management of  Ffynnone and reporting and providing evidence of appropriate spending and progress to grant providers.  The jobholder will liaise closely with Project Manager, Grower Manager and Project Coordinators.

Invoices and Payments

  • Entering invoices into Xero.
  • Paying Invoices via our bank.
  • Issuing Invoices to grant providers and others.
  • Reconciling bank statements.
  • Operating PAYE using Xero or other approved software.

 Accounting and Management Information

 

  • Providing monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and other management information.
  • Monitoring spending against projects, providing financial profiles and forecasts.

Reporting

  • Provide first draft quarterly and ad hoc reports to Grant Providers, liaising with Project and Grower Manager and Co-ordinators as required.
  • Responsible for providing and entering all financial and delivery information into project reports.
  • First point of contact for grant providers.

Training

  • Undertake training in relevant areas for example: Xero or other PAYE software

Other tasks as per business needs

Responsible to:           Finance Director

Hours of work:            Part time, 6-8 hours per week to be reviewed after 3 months.  There may be a need for more hours at quarter ends and fewer at the start of a quarter.  We are happy to be flexible around childcare arrangements, schooling and other domestic requirements.

Contract:         The person will be employed on an initial 12-month contract by Ffynnone Community Resilience CIC. / The person will work on a self-employed basis.

Place of work:             We will support home working, but attendance at occasional meetings in North East Pembrokeshire will be necessary.

Salary: £12.50 to £15.00 depending on experience and whether employed or self-employed.

Holidays:         25 days pro rata paid per year.

Notice Period: 1 month on either side.

Role

We are seeking an organised and efficient coordinator to assist our Project Manager and Grower Manager to set up a Farmstart and tree nursery at this site, and to coordinate our community growing programme.

Main duties

Community gardens

  • Collaborate with volunteers to run celebratory and educational events.
  • Coordinate and help to expand our education provision to schools.
  • Assist the Grower Manager to expand our growers network.
  • Work with other staff to manage volunteers and improve volunteer experience.
  • Work with volunteers to enhance our offering to local food charities eg Cardigan food bank.
  • Work with other staff and volunteers to implement and manage interventions for wildlife at our sites.

Farmstart

  • Assist managers in designing and implementing the Farstart programme.
  • Community engagement and marketing including advertising for Farmstart trainees.
  • Support managers on construction and capital spend programmes.
  • Support evaluation and reporting activities.

Local networks

  • Coordinate public consultation and engagement programmes with local businesses in food, hospitality, tourism, OPDs and community groups to inform our work.
  • Promote our facilities for community and business use eg processing facility.

Enterprise creation

  • Coordinate market research to inform enterprise development at Farmstart.
  • Assist with the setup of three onsite enterprises: apple juicing service, vermicomposting, and tree nursery.

Role

We are seeking an experienced and organised Project Manager to develop the project in Abercych, and to manage our existing community growing programme.

 Main duties

Planning, management, reporting

  • Collaborate with Ffynnone Director to develop project plan to funder specification.
  • Work alongside Grower Manager to develop programme for Farmstart and tree nursery.
  • Manage the Coordinator on tasks such as advertising for Farmstart participants, engaging local businesses.
  • Support the evaluation and reporting of the project through collaboration with Ffynnone Treasurer and other staff.

Construction and capital spend

  • Manage the construction of education, kitchen, processing and storage spaces including quality assurance process.
  • Manage setup of infrastructure and purchase of machinery, in collaboration with Grower Manager.

Local networks

  • Set up public consultation and engagement programmes with local businesses in food, hospitality, tourism, OPDs and community groups to inform our work.
  • Promote our facilities for community and business use eg processing facility.

Enterprise creation

  • Lead market research to inform enterprise development at Farmstart. With Grower Manager, assist new entrants to make sound business decisions based on research.
  • Manage the setup of three onsite enterprises: apple juicing service, vermicomposting, and tree nursery.

Project continuation

  • Plan for project continuation or enhancement after 2024.
  • Proactively seek to secure ongoing funding for the Farmstart project and Ffynnone CIC through a range of means which may include community share offer, funding applications, loan applications.
