Getting to know the PAVS Trustees… Ceri Crichton
This week we are getting to know our PAVS Trustee Ceri Crichton…
Ceri, what is your very favourite thing about being a Trustee for PAVS?
My favourite part of being a trustee for PAVS is having the chance to support the sector from a strategic angle. It’s a unique opportunity to influence positive change that impacts so many, and to work alongside a team committed to the charities, social enterprises, and people who rely on them.
Recognising the responsibility of being a trustee, tell us one of your worries:
One concern I have is the strain that funding arrangements place on charities and social enterprises. Often, they face challenges not because of a lack of funding altogether but because grants are frequently paid in arrears. If charities received these funds in advance, it would be easier for them to deliver services without the added stress of cash flow worries. I think this shift could be transformational, allowing government and public sector bodies to tap into a larger pool of resources from our small charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I grew up in the Rhondda. At the time, I didn’t have big career aspirations and genuinely never wanted to leave the community. However, life often has a way of leading you down unexpected paths, and I ended up with a career that’s allowed me to travel the world, train with some of the largest organisations, and learn at world-class business schools.
These experiences have given me valuable insights and perspectives, and I feel grateful to share everything I’ve learned with the sector in Pembrokeshire, both through PAVS and through my own business, The Round House. I hope my experience benefits the people and organisations I support.
What one word sums up PAVS for you?
Family.
PAVS has a close-knit, caring team that looks out for each other and the communities we serve. It feels like being part of something bigger, with everyone working hard to make a positive impact.
Wow thanks so much Ceri. A big thank you to our Trustees!
Thank you to each of our Trustees at PAVS. You are all so valued and your work is greatly appreciated by the whole team at PAVS, and by our community here in Pembrokeshire.
