All the Volunteers at the Big Do<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

On 5th<\/sup> June we held the first ever PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services) Big Do, as part of Volunteers\u2019 Week, and it was a truly special event. Almost 50 people came along to The Centre, in Simpson Cross to have a go at some fantastic indoor \u2013 and outdoor \u2013 volunteering activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is amazing what can be achieved in just 2 hours: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Community Garden:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planting 150 wildflowers plug plants from Keep Wales Tidy <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weatherproofing the garden fence with paint<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weeding vegetable and flower patch<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearing out the shed and tidying up<\/p>\n\n\n

Indoors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 letters written to be sent on to individuals feeling lonely or isolated in our community<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindness badges made, arts and crafts created and help with exhibition boards for a local history project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a huge curry lunch cooked for everyone who attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feedback we had from the event was so uplifting with volunteers sharing how great they thought it was for networking but also for their own well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018It was a real tonic\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018I found the letter writing particularly therapeutic.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Thanks for inviting us to your Big Do – it was a smashing event.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018It was lovely to meet so many passionate individuals from a variety of volunteer organisations. I found the experience incredibly uplifting\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Thank you again for such a meaningful experience.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018I had one of the best days of my work year so far – lovely to get on with things while also chatting to interesting people, making connections and thinking outside the box \/ laptop.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018It was an enjoyable networking event, very well organised and welcoming.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We could not have had such a successful event without the organisations who came along to provide the activities, and of course all the enthusiastic volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
