That inner \u2018glow\u2019 and \u2018warm and fuzzy\u2019 feeling you get when you know that something you\u2019ve done or said has made a real difference, or you\u2019ve been on the receiving end of a kind gesture, a genuine smile or had the chance to have a proper chat about something important. How would you like to have that feeling on a regular basis?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteering has obvious benefits \u2013 it helps organisations and groups to deliver the services and activities that are needed within a given community and makes sure that those who need that support can get it. But there\u2019s more to it than that\u2026 much more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you volunteer, you\u2019re making a positive difference to people\u2019s lives, including your own! If you\u2019re an active volunteer now, think back to who you were before you got involved in it \u2013 maybe you were someone who didn\u2019t get out that often, or felt anxious about going out. Maybe you\u2019d lost your job and were at a loose end whilst trying to find another one. Maybe you just wanted to try something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about who you are now. Do you feel more confident? What new skills have you learned? How many new people have you met? How much fun do you have with other people in your team? How have you made a difference to other people? What has changed for the better in the community around you? Bet you\u2019ve got that warm, fuzzy feeling now haven\u2019t you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t believe us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteering is a&nbsp;<strong>scientifically proven <\/strong>mood-booster. \u2018Charitable\u2019 acts spark a release of dopamine commonly known as the \u2018helper\u2019s high\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like a good old-fashioned <strong>statistic<\/strong>? (Louise, our Volunteering Officer, does)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>89% of people asked* about their volunteering said \u2018I enjoy it\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>88% said \u2018It gives me a sense of personal achievement\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>75% said \u2018It improves my mental health and wellbeing\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(*NCVO \u2018Time Well Spent\u2019)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More interested in what Pembrokeshire people have got to say about it?
