National Volunteers' Week 2014

PAVS National Volunteers Week event a resounding success

National Volunteers' Week is a nationwide celebration of volunteers and volunteering which takes place from 1st – 7th June of each year.

Volunteers' Week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to the community, while inspiring others to get involved too.

PAVS Volunteering Pembrokeshire held a National Volunteers Week celebration event on June 4th 2014 at Letterston Memorial Hall to recognise and give thanks to volunteers giving their time and commitment within their communities in Pembrokeshire. Over 150 people attended a very vibrant event with over 20 voluntary organisations promoting various volunteering opportunities attracting many new volunteers.

The PAVS Pembrokeshire Volunteering Awards took place at the event in the afternoon, giving recognition in 6 categories – Trustee, Individual Over 25, Individual Under 25, Group Over 25, Group Under 25 and the Mary Sigley Award where volunteering has changed the life of a person.  Anna Malloy, Port of Milford Haven (PoMH), PR & Communications Officer kindly attended to present the awards to the winners. PoMH funds the Treats for Time scheme which is administered by PAVS and rewards volunteers with a treats or gift for carrying out 50 hours of volunteering.
