Pembroke 21C - Foundry House
Anyone who has driven past Pembroke Commons recently will have noticed the large building opposite the foot of St Daniel’s Hill that has been undergoing refurbishment over the winter months.
Foundry House is Pembroke’s Community Centre and has not been upgraded since the 1960’s but with funding from the Welsh Assembly Government, the Big Lottery, Chevron Pembroke Refinery, Pembroke Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council it is now a lovely modern community centre which is available for the whole community to use.

Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust
'Fly High with the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust'
The Flying Boat Centre opened on June 27th 2009 within the former Royal Dockyard and has already attracted well over 10,000 visitors with tremendous feedback.
This represents an important and sustainable step in initiatives led by Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust to create unique visitor attractions focusing on the town’s remarkable connections with Britain’s Armed Services. The Centre is going from strength to strength and the volunteers play such an important part in the success of the centre. We have over 50 enthusiastic volunteers who actively support the project in so many ways (including the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust Dive Group).
The Centre with its well equipped workshop is open five days a week all through the year (Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm). It is unique to the UK, reflecting Pembroke Dock’s long links with military flying boats and especially the iconic Sunderland.
Volunteers take an active role in manning the centre (front of house/meeting and greeting and in the workshop). Other roles include outreach (including education) and archiving. We keep our volunteers regularly updated on progress and hold regular feedback sessions. Additionally, days out are organised by the management team.
Funding for the Centre has come from the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
The world’s fourth surviving Sunderland lies in the Haven Waterway. Plans to raise Sunderland T9044 are gathering pace and conservation work on parts of the aircraft already recovered continue in the Workshop, for visitors to view.
