Through the work of the
Training Advisory Group, the
need to develop a comprehensive training strategy for the voluntary
sector was identified. Following a successful bid to the European
Social Fund under Objective One, PAVS received funding to run a
2 year Training Project, with a Training Officer being appointed
in March 2001.
The project, which ended in February 2003, offered opportunities
for voluntary sector employees, trustees, and volunteers, to develop
their skills and knowledge, to make a real difference to voluntary
groups and communities across Pembrokeshire.

A core programme of accredited
and non-accredited training opportunities was developed, as well as
tailor-made sessions to address specific organisational needs.
The project was managed by the Training Project Management Group,
who met on a quarterly basis. Members of the group included the
Director of PAVS, Finance Officer, 2 elected members from the Training
Advisory Group, 1 PAVS trustee representative, and the Project Worker
(Training Officer).
