Learning in the Voluntary Sector

There are several elements to the current project which comes to an end on 31 October 2008:

training courses - designed to meet the needs of the voluntary sector. Some courses will be accredited, meaning that participants have the option to gain qualifications

training needs analysis - local voluntary groups will be able to benefit from an in-depth look at their organisation, identifying learning needs and evaluating training

learning champions - a supported network of people who will actively promote the benefits of learning and identify training needs for the sector

learning toolkits - resource material designed for and piloted by local groups, before being rolled out across the sector

Skills and Knowledge Exchange - an on-line skills “swap shop” so that groups can really start to help each other with training and development. Click here to join the "Learning Champions" online community.

The project is in the process of developing two new partnerships, one looking at Welsh language issues in training and the other at engaging disadvantaged groups in the learning process.

This project is not just about delivering training. It is a really good opportunity to develop a learning culture within the sector and to put in place structures and learning materials that can be used by all sorts of voluntary groups in the future.

TALK TO US PLEASE!

Does your group have a specific training need?
Would you like to join our network of learning champions?
Would your organisation benefit from an in-depth training needs analysis?

If the answer to any of these questions is YES

then we'd like to hear from you.

The project builds on the success of the first voluntary sector training project, which was developed through the work of the Training Advisory Group (TAG Archive). The initial project, which ended in February 2003, developed a comprehensive programme of accredited and non-accredited training opportunities and provided over 10,000 hours of training to 1000 people from the voluntary sector during the two years that it ran.

The project is funded from the Objective 1 European Social Fund, with match funding being provided by DCELLS (formerly ELWa) and one of our partner organisations, Global Connections.
