The Action Plan is available on the Assembly s website: www.wales.gov.uk/subieducationtraining/content/Consultation/learning/learning-country-e.htm Training News, Opportunities and Events Wales-wide Developing National Occupational Standards and qualifications for the sector project update Voluntary Sector National Training Organisation (VSNTO)(GB) hosted in Wales by WCVA are continuing work on the development of national occupational standards for the voluntary sector in the following areas: Recruitment & management of volunteers Trustees and management committee members Fundraising National Occupational Standards seek to define competence in an occupation. In doing so, they make what needs to be achieved transparent to all. Such transparency can help individuals, organisations and the sector to demonstrate that they are high achievers in that field, or to identify skills they would wish to gain or where they might improve performance. The common framework and language NOS provide can be a driver for change and improvement. Updates on each of the 3 areas are available from PAVS Training. Local Training Events & Opportunities Adult Protection Awareness Training Training activity in the area of adult protection is ongoing and there are places available (bookable via PAVS). The training is designed for paid or voluntary staff who support vulnerable adults within the county, and aims to raise awareness in identifying and reporting abuse of vulnerable adults in line with Pembrokeshire s Joint Agency Policy & Procedures. Building our Communities training for community regeneration (WCVA) A programme of training courses to provide  front line community development workers with the skills to undertake their most immediate tasks in relation to community regeneration and the Communities First agenda in Wales is coming soon courtesy of WCVA. The planned programme will give these workers opportunities for training which will provide them with the skills to undertake the most immediate tasks, and is relevant to the community regeneration nature of the work. Since then, we have been working hard to ensure effective  closure of the project, which involves extensive monitoring and administrative work. By the time this newsletter goes to print, the closure work and audit will have been completed. Work is continuing to secure funding to enable us to continue with training and learning activities for the sector in the county. This is a very difficult time as we are eager to progress to the second phase of work, but we are exploring further partnership working to bring about new opportunities, and are grateful for everyone s patience during this time. The meeting provided the opportunity to be updated on developments within Pembrokeshire CCET planning and to share news of opportunities and events. It was agreed that Valerie Stevenson (Coalition) will now be chair of the group, and Margaret John (Princes Trust) vice-chair. An additional representative is also being sought for the CCET sub groups of  Widening Participation and  e-learning . If anyone reading this is prepared to be a representative and report back to TAG, please let Lorraine know. These groups are becoming increasingly important in terms of the planning and co-ordination of activities for post-16 learning in the county. There are a number of FREE Courses running in IT for Beginners, 2 hours per week for 10 weeks. These courses are suitable for this with no experience of computers.
