C&YP Network Event
20.02.08 Bloomfield Centre, Narberth
Thank you to all those who attended today’s Network Event which focused on the upcoming inspection of Youth Support Services in Pembrokeshire. Through the presentations, Q&A session and workshop, much information was passed on to the audience and many questions answered. Please click here for a summary of the day.
Some of the audience who had arrived at the beginning of the day thinking that the Estyn Inspection was not relevant to them or their organisation have asked for SAR forms to be resent and for clarification of the inspection remit. The SAR forms are available on the Estyn Inspection links below:
Please download, complete and return by the 7th March. If you need support or help to complete these forms please let me know as soon as possible.
To clarify the remit; if you are a voluntary organisation (doesn’t matter what size) supporting young people aged 11-25 and you receive public money (local or national government aid, grants, via an SLA, through direct fundraising) you are liable to be inspected.
Don’t be caught out when we are inspected, if in doubt prepare now.

We have developed a set of National Standards for participation that are relevant for all organisations who work with or have an impact on children and young people. Together we can ensure that all children and young people have a positive and meaningful experience of participation across Wales. For further information, please visit the following sites:

... is the not so snappy title given to the collective of those groups who do not receive direct Local Authority assistance and who could be described as either voluntary or independent.
We meet on a quarterly basis at venues around Pembrokeshire to discuss the latest policy developments, funding opportunities and of course to keep up to date with what is happening in the rest of the County. These meetings have also been used to facilitate meeting with statutory sector colleagues to explore the possibilities of future partnership working.

In addition The Children and Youth Planning Facilitator who co-ordinates this network, maintains a traditional and electronic information exchange keeping those who are subscribed up to date with opportunities, news and resources on a local, regional and national basis. Please click here to register for email updates
The primary purpose of having a network and an information exchange is to maintain, and in some cases raise further, the profile and the opinion of the Voluntary Sector within the planning process. There are a range of planning partnerships that decide on and commission services for the children and young people in Pembrokeshire. The primary groups are the Children and Young People’s Framework Partnership – a high level strategic group made up of Directors and Heads of Service, The Children’s Partnership which is concerned with all projects and developments concerning the 0-10 age group and the Young People’s Partnership who have the overview of all activity designed to engage the 11-25’s. There are of course, a plethora of subgroups and other partnerships that examine specific areas for development. PAVS are currently working on a Directory of all of these groups together with a list of the people who represent the Voluntary Sector at them. This will be published on the Internet in due course. In the meantime, if you have a specific query or would like to raise an issue, please contact Lee Hind as soon as possible. You can reach Lee by clicking here or telephoning 01437 769422.
In addition to the co-ordination of the network and the maintaining of an information link between the planning partnerships and the Voluntary Sector, the Children and Youth Planning Facilitator has a role to represent the views of the Voluntary Sector at the full range of meetings and groups that support the development and evaluation of services to children and young people, across the age spectrum. This gives the information exchange added value as Voluntary Sector groups can contact the post holder at anytime to raise issues and air concerns whilst the post holder can contact the groups to give feedback to partners.
