Changes to PAVS' Trustee Board
At the AGM on 19th January 2010, the Board approved the reduction in size of PAVS' Board 15 to 10 members. The Board believes strongly that this is a sufficient number of trustees to provide accountability, scrutiny and constructive challenge, without being top heavy.
Seven trustees nomionated from PAVS' membership were elected at the AGM as usual. Work has now been completed on recruitment for the posts of Chair and Trustee with Special Responsibility (TSR) for Finance. Applications were invited from elected Trustees, members of PAVS and other persons with appropriate experience who live in Pembrokeshire. Appointing these key positions from such a wide pool will enabled PAVS to select the best person for each post based on a demonstrable track record of relevant skills, experience and knowledge.
Ian Hunter OBE, of Fishguard
has been appointed to the role of Chair. He succeeds Nigel Owen who recently retired after nine years service to PAVS. Ian is the former Vice Chair of PAVS and is a Trustee of the young persons’ charity POINT, in Fishguard. He is a Member of Glas Cymru, the holding company for Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water, and of the Court of Cardiff University. He is also the Lifeboat Operations Manager of Fishguard Lifeboat.
Bernie Scourfield of Lamphey has been appointed Trustee with Special Responsibility for Finance.
Bernie is also a former Trustee of PAVS and has a strong background in public sector finances, as well as direct experience of charity finances through his work with voluntary organisations.
The formal announcement of the person appointed as Vice Chair will be made after ratification of the appointment at the next board meeting on 19th May 2010
